Dear teacher and fellows,
How are you? I am glad that today is Sunday and we can still rest a little:)
I read some passages more, somewhere 10 chapters entirely and I want to share with my impressions.
Pip's life changed a little bit.Pip spent the night at Mr.Pumblechook's in the attic. Mr.Pumblechook was a seedsman,he sold lots of seedy stuff. He also wore corduroys. In the morning, they went to Miss Havisham's.It was a big, dismal mansion with a lot of bars, gates and boarded up windows. There was a vacant brewery, too. They rang the bell and waited for somebody to unlock the gate.A young girl came to them and didn't let Mr.Pumblechook inside. That house had 2 names : the manor house and Satis House."Satis" meant "enough". Enough House. The little girl told Pip that, when it was first built, the builders thought that whoever owned the house could want nothing more in life. She was Pip’s age,but she was really proud and patronizing. She called Pip - "boy." She was also really pretty. The little girl dropped Pip off and told him to go inside.
There Pip met Miss Havisham,a weirdest lady he had ever seen in his life. She was old and was wearing beatiful clothes, that was a wedding dress and it was so old because it looked yellowy-brown.There were jewels and gloves and lace on her dressing table.Miss Havisham told Pip that she had a broken and then she smiled strangely.Afterwards she commanded Pip to play.He played Estella, but she then didn't want because Pip was "common".She always made fun of him for calling "knaves" or "jacks".She scorned his coarse hands and his thick boots, too. Then Pip went home and Miss Havisham ordered Estella to give him some food. The next day,Pip's sister wanted to know all about Miss Havisham and his house.Mr.Pumblechook came to them and Pip began to tell them some awesome stories.Pip felt really guilty when the two related the story to Joe. He HATES lying to Joe,his best friend.Later on,in the forge,Pip confessed to Joe that the stories of the black coach, the big dogs and the flags were all fabricated.Joe was really shocked and disappointed.Joe told him that he would not ever become uncommon if he continued to tell lies.Pip went to bed thinking about all the differences between Joe’s house and Miss Havisham’s house and how so much had changed that day.Pip got the notion in his head that he needed some schooling in order to become uncommon and Biddy solved the problem, she decided to teach him and all the children in the town. One noght after school,Pip found Joe,Mr.Wopsle and a strange man at the "Three Jolly Bargema" pub.Pip recognized the file that was at that strange man to be very like the same that he had stolen from Joe's smithy and gave to the escaped convict. As they wanted to go home, the mysterious man gave Pip some change wrapped in a piece of paper. Pip was greateful and when they got home and unwrapped the paper, they understood that the paper was actually money itself.Pip ran back to the pub he wasn't there.Mrs.Joe filled a tea pot with the money.Pip had wild dreams all night.
Here I stopped, the chapter 8 was very long and I hardly read it.I will read maybe this coming week more.Have a nice week my dear:)Good luck!!!
Love,
Alina
